Founded in 1725 with a £5,000 endowment from Charles Williams, the school is set in its own grounds in a picturesque and historic village. Serves the Caerleon area and the county district as far as Llandegfedd and Tredunnock. School has a strong Christian ethos. A part-time teacher is employed to help children with learning difficulties. Extra-curricular clubs play important role in school life and include choir, orchestra, soccer, rugby, netball, lacrosse, cross-country, country dance, line-dancing, craft, chess and science. Heavily over-subscribed, and an admissions sub-committee meets twice termly to consider applications. Basic Skills Quality Mark (2005).
